BLACK ROCK FC ANNOUNCES COACHING APPOINTMENTS FOR 2010

The Black Rock Football Club is please to announce the appointment of James Challis as Senior Coach for 2010.

The 2007 Black Rock Premiership Captain, Challis has been Senior Coach since the early rounds of the 2008 season and has overseen the side becoming a consistently competitive performer in SFL Division 2.

 

New Black Rock President Peter Smith said “We are delighted to have retained Challo’s services for 2010. His terrific passion for the game and our Club has driven much of our recent success. We are confident that he is the best man to take our Club to the next level – finals in 2010.”

 

Black Rock is also very pleased to announce the appointment of 2007 Premiership forward Cardin “Cards” Leorke as Reserves Coach for 2010.

 

Training will commence on Wed 2nd Dec, meet at Rockers clubrooms at 6pm. bring runners & towel in case of a swim..

 

After a struggle with numbers last season the club urges all players to recruit friends /new members & bring them along to training.

 

The Club also hopes to announce an important addition to its football department in coming days, stay tuned for more details???

BLACK ROCK FC PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE ELECTON OF ITS FIRST FEMALE VICE PRESIDENT

The Black Rock Football Club is delighted to announce the election of Tegan Mills as Vice President for 2010.

 

Tegan is 22 and works in retail and visual merchandising. She has been involved at Black Rock as a trainer for two years and has become more involved in the Club operations and is aiming to increase the level of female participation at the Club and in football generally.


New Black Rock President Peter Smith said “We are delighted to have Tegan on the Board for 2010. At a time where many Clubs are seeking to increase the level of female participation in football, Tegan’s election adds a new and very welcome dimension to the Club”.

BRFC - AGM

The club  held it's annual AGM on wednesday night which saw a few change on the committee, we welcome new members in Pete Smith (President) Tegan Mills (Vice President) Steve Bennett & Jim Jeffries (general) & returning after a few years Bill Costelloe (general/ past players co-ordinator). We wish the new blood all the best for next season & future seasons, as they look to steer the club .

The night also saw a few take a  step back after a stint in the hot seat Nick Macmillan will be taking on a reduced role, also Tim Perrot has stepped down after some stellar work overthe years.. the Club would like to thank these guys for their efforts over the past 4 seasons

The awards have been handed out at our recent presentation night & 'Nicko' Owen secured his 2nd club B&F, in what (he thinks) is his swan song season it came down to the final game as he held on from a fast finishing Jezza in his first year at the club, with Kirky (SFL div. 2 leading goal kicking awared with 92 goals) & Grosey polling well with consistent years.. Micky B held on by 1 vote to secure the 2s award from Panda..

Damian 'Maxi' Devola took out the best clubman awards & Cardin 'Cards' Leorke took out the coveted Steve Scott memorial award after a stellar season of hard work around the club...

Congrats to all trophy winners players & helpers on a great season !!

Guess who's turning 100....

 THE ROCKERS  !!!

After being founded in 1908 BlackRock FC will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2008, the club is keen to have all members re-unite at several functions throughout the season. The cub has also secured a grant to see our out dated rooms receive a "facelift" following the 2008 season, stay tuned for more details..

A newsletter has been sent to all members on current file either by snail mail/ email (if you have moved we need to update your details) detailing our plans for the centenary year functions.

 Well after much planning & hard work by the committee the Dinner was held on saturday night & saw close to 200 in attendance to look back at our 100 year journey. With many new & old members chatting about old times, a great night was had by all.
